Last April homosexual man had been promised that they will be able to donate blood in August, this after new ways for testing for STD's were being discovered.
The Nucleic Acid test is a very sensitive solution that uncovers STD's especially HIV at a very early stage when compared to the usual tests used. The equipment required for such tests has been noted to have been ordered, they were awaiting to be delivered last April.

It should be noted, that although there is a higher chance for homosexual man to be carriers of such diseases, even heterosexuals can be. Hence, why does not the government invest in testing for everyone rather than pulling this discriminatory card?
If the said test is so sensitive; so effective why do homosexuals have to wait for a whole year without engaging in any sexual activities with their partner? Or has the test just been ditched?
The many yearly cries because there is not enough blood, the answer is an easy one. Maybe not, but the general public should not be kept in the dark of such situations.
Not being able to donate blood because of your sexual orientation is an open invitation for discrimination, when it could easily be resolved by making NAT available and mandatory to every individual human being.
